Bio
Marcus Bowers
Solo Guitar & Vocals | Blues · Rock · Fingerstyle
Marcus Bowers is a guitarist and singer based in New Mexico whose music lives at the crossroads of blues, rock, jazz, and complex fingerstyles — a sound forged over decades of serious study, road-tested performance, and a deep immersion in the world of live music. Whether he's coaxing soulful slide from a Fender Stratocaster or weaving intricate fingerpicked patterns on an acoustic, Marcus brings a musicianship to the stage that is both technically commanding and genuinely felt. San Francisco's The Bay Bridged once praised his former band for "creating glam-influenced anthems — no easy task, but they do it quite well," and that same commitment to craft now drives everything he does as a solo performer. Marcus is currently available for intimate venues, private events, weddings, studio sessions, and everything in between.
Marcus's musical foundation was built under the guidance of respected guitar teacher David Brandon, and later at South Plains College, where he had the rare opportunity to study alongside American music legends Alan Munde and Joe Carr. That education gave him a deep understanding of the mechanics and soul of American roots music. From there, Marcus took his playing to San Francisco, where he performed as guitarist and vocalist in the rock outfit We Will Be Lions, cutting his teeth on the city's competitive live music circuit and developing the stage instincts that only come from performing night after night in front of a real crowd.
What sets Marcus apart from the average solo performer isn't just his guitar chops — it's the fact that he has spent years on the other side of the music industry curtain. As a contributor to the production infrastructure behind some of the most celebrated festivals in the country — including Lightning in a Bottle, Burning Man, Life Is Beautiful, Country Jam, and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass — Marcus has seen firsthand what makes a live music experience truly work. He understands the craft from every angle: the performer's, the producer's, and the audience's.
Now Marcus is bringing all of it to the front of the stage. His solo sets draw from a deep well — blues standards, rock classics, intricate fingerstyle arrangements, and a handful of originals — delivered with the confidence of someone who has spent a lifetime in music. If you're looking for a solo guitarist who can hold a room, read a crowd, and make every note count, Marcus Bowers is your call.
